Boston was one of the many major American cities to be evacuated and aviation-fuel bombed in the attempts to contain the spread of the plague in 2009. The fire bombing focused in the center of Boston, leveling most of downtown, but leaving some of Cambridge and south Boston standing.

The military efort to rebuild Boston and the subsequent relocation of citizens into the city brought about a dichotomy of Boston; New Boston, Old Boston, and what is commonly known as the “badlands.” An estimated 3 million people reside in the greater New Boston area, though the influx of trade ships, caravans and nomatic tradesmen can vary the statistic by over ten thousand.
